Symptom

Normally only your website accesses the MySQL database of your Bitpalace Business Booster. However, now you want to access the database from an external system, too. Maybe you run an inventory system that stores its data to your MySQL database. Or maybe you own an online shop software that features a backend for your computer where you manage your products. That software ought to be able to communicate with the MySQL database on your Bitpalace Business Booster.

Cause

To keep hackers from attacking your database, it is impossible by default to access your Bitpalace Business Booster database from external addresses. Only the scripts on the host, where your database and your website are located on, can access the database.

Solution

You can configure each of your Bitpalace Business Booster databases easily to accept external connections.

Login to your customer control panel of your Bitpalace Business Booster and click on the "Database" tab. Each database has hast least one user account. Click on the name of the user account that you want to edit. You will see a page where you can set all the permissions of that specific account. On that page you can also set whether the database can only be reached from the local host (default setting), whether it can only be reached from a specific other domain or a specific range of IP addresses, or whether it can be reached from any IP address.
